Easy, Homemade, or Budget Friendly Gift Ideas
A potentially big stressor this season - feeling like you have to spend a lot of time or money on gifts. It sounds cliché, but the old saying is true - it's the thought that counts. Something handmade or creative can be super special. You shouldn't put yourself at a disadvantage financially or energetically. These are some quick ideas that could make unique, sanity and budget friendly gifts.
Cook a homemade meal or bake a batch of cookies/treats (if you find cooking/baking calming and fun, for some this is as stressful as it gets!).
Hot Cocoa Bundles: Make a trip to your nearest dollar store and grab a couple of festive mugs, some ribbon, and a box of instant hot chocolate. This is an easy treat and who doesn’t love a new coffee mug? You could add a small bag of marshmallows, or switch out the cocoa for coffee or tea. Get creative!
Handmade Ornaments: Those empty plastic ornaments you can find at the craft store? So many possibilities! This is a great project for kids, too. This website has a ton of ideas.
Custom Coasters: This is something fun that you can tailor to any individual interests or styles. Grab some cheap ceramic tiles from Home Depot, some Modge Podge, and a collection of images, patterned paper, fabric, etc. Here are some basic instructions, but there are so many things you could do with this method!
No-Sew, Tied Fleece Blanket: My sister made one of these for me years ago and I still have it - it is super cozy and the perfect throw for the bed or couch. Incredibly simple and requires only three things: two pieces of fleece fabric and scissors! Let yourself get creative by mixing fabric colors and patterns.
Make your gifts extra special with some decorative name tags. I made up a free sheet that you can print and use, just click on the digital download below from my shop. Make things super easy on yourself and print them on a sheet of label paper, then just cut out and stick to the gift.
