Seeing the Signs: Page of Wands

Page of Wands

Elements: Earth/Fire

Keywords:

excited, adventurous, mischievous, confident, bold, fearless, energetic, new ideas/projects/pursuits, positive outlook, passionate, taking action

Traditional RWS Imagery: A young figure stands confidently with their head held up toward the sun. They are draped in yellow, which matches the arid and dry landscape behind them. In their hands is a tall wooden staff, which they look at admiringly. The sky is blue, clear, and cloudless.

The Page is standing very upright, suggesting they are full of confidence and eagerness to learn and explore. They are standing at attention to the new ideas swimming through their mind. They are alert, waiting for the right cue or sign to direct them toward the next step of their journey. Their face toward the sky also brings to mind the phrase ‘the sky’s the limit’. At this moment, all things are possible. This is also a younger person, so the Page could represent an actual youth or someone in the role of a student/apprentice, or generally needing/hoping to receive guidance. The desert environment suggests that the ideas of the Page have not yet come to fruition. There has been little nourishment of these goals and ambitions – they are just starting to come together in the Page’s mind.

  • Upright or General Interpretations:

  • Feeling inspired and enthusiastic about a new project/idea

  • Being passionate and adventurous

  • Seizing opportunity

  • Good news/communication, and progress

  • Taking on a student/apprentice role

FD Tarot Imagery: A light-footed sparrow moves quickly and freely among the branches of a great mulberry tree. She is blissfully grabbing as many berries as possible, enjoying their sweet taste. The lower branches have been picked clean of the purple fruit, so the sparrow must climb higher and higher into the canopy to reach the tiny treats. Luckily, her sense of adventure is boundless. A crescent moon hangs in the sky above.

The sparrow symbolizes freedom, good fortune, and positivity. These are tiny birds with big energy, and represent the Page of Wands being someone small in stature or inexperienced but with big dreams and the motivation to pursue them.

All of the Pages in the Forager’s Daughter Tarot have a crescent moon in the image. This first sliver of the waxing moon represents the inklings of an idea, a vision, and a dream.
