We took advantage of the beautiful weather yesterday and went for a walk at a local park, and found these! Snowdrops, genus name Galanthus (meaning 'milk flower'), are some of the earliest spring flowers to bloom. They are always a nice surprise to see, I love their delicate forms and the little green heart shape on the interior petals.
A while ago I was working on some Art Nouveau-style illustrations of a few of my favorite botanicals, and snowdrops were one of the motifs. I had the intention of compiling these into a calendar, but like many other things they sort of fell to the backburner. I hope to revisit the project, but for now we'll just enjoy the elegant shapes created by these little flowers!
