Review - Cat Aura Tarot
I received another exciting package this week - The Cat Aura Tarot by Malumir Logan (also creator of Chakra Healing Tarot)! The energy of this deck is so sweet, I love how colorful and full of rich details it is. Someone else described it as radiant and that is such an accurate word. The images are vibrant and full of detail and story. The cards are a sturdy 350gsm, with a soft matte finish. They shuffle very easily, and if they do stick a little right out of the package just work with them a bit and they’ll loosen up.
The packaging itself is beautiful, and Malumir included some stunning add-on pieces like the tiny crystal cat figurine and the cat pendulum (which I LOVE). Also - get a look at that holographic edging on the cards!!
I picked out a few of my favorite cards from the major arcana and the minor suites, but there are so many good ones. Each card has an elaborate environment that reflects the energy and theme of the message. The Fool shows us an illuminated path leading to the horizon, The Hermit a sacred grotto. I especially like the Death card - it is such a tender depiction of one of life's most difficult messages. There are a lot of cards that really highlight emotion through the gesture or position of the cats. For example in the 4 of Wands and the 9 of Pentacles, these are such quintessential expressions of affection and joy that I’ve seen cats show throughout my life, they match the card qualities perfectly.
The guidebook is an excellent resource. It includes not only a lovely description of the card’s meaning but also the associated Chakra(s) and sections titled Vibrant Key Phrases and Suppressed Key Phrases. These are like the light and shadow aspects of the card, but I really find the phrase format inspiring and overall gives the card an even richer personality.
It is clear that Malumir and the artist, E.C. Mazur, put so much thought, care, and consideration into every aspect of this deck. If you enjoy color symbolism/magic, working with the Chakras, and obviously cats, these are the cards for you.
